Where Should You Submit Your Podcast?

The top 3 podcast directories to submit your podcast to are Apple, Spotify and Google Podcasts. You’ll want to submit your podcast to these three directories as your starting point.

Hosting platforms are a bloody god sent. They allow your episodes to be distributed on the directories via your RSS feed on the directories where listeners might be searching for your podcast.

An RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed is an online file that contains details about the content a website has published. So for example, your podcast RSS feed will have all the details of your new episodes and make the listening experience SUPER easy for your audience. You can set up your RSS feed through the hosting platform you choose to go with.

There are many hosting platforms you can go with and they all have different pricing and benefits.

Here are a few suggested hosting platforms for you to explore:

  • Anchor (my personal fave)

  • BuzzSprout

  • Libsyn

  • Acast

After you set your hosting platform up, I recommend setting up a website page for your podcast. Here is where you’ll send people so that they land on your page instead of straight to Spotify. You want to send people here so that when they get onto your website they can start having a look around and see if something you offer may look appetising.

Optimising the user experience on your website is super important to marketing a podcast to new listeners. It can mean the difference between becoming a subscriber or never listening again. Think of your podcast webpage as a sales funnel - although instead of a purchase, you convert the visitor to a podcast subscriber.

Tip: 65% of podcast consumption is via a mobile device, so keep it mobile friendly!
